I'm relatively new to bank fishing on Lake Lavon. Last week I went to the spillway and caught two white bass off the wall around 9am. I then went to Little Ridge Park and had no luck, and everyone I talked to didn't have a bite all morning. Today, I went to the 380 bridge and fished under the bridge on the top rap and caught one white bass off of a charchuse curly tail jig. Then around 6:30pm I went to the north side and fished until 9:30pm with no bites. I've scoured this forum, other Texas fishing forums, and YouTube to find some good spots. I'm planning on going to Mallard Park tomorrow morning at sunrise and fish with minnows. I see a lot of people catch crappie but I can't seem to find them. If anyone is up this late, I would sure appreciate any tips before I go out again tomorrow to find some crappie. Thanks in advance.

If you can wade, get up into the brush. Drop jigs in between the branches. Stick and move.

Welcome aboard real cam... Like lead said, go shallow and find any kind of structure in the water you can. Crappie love anything to hide around and shade. Have done well from the bank at lavon. Get wet and wade...
Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

I went Wednesday from the rocks off 380 just east of the bridge that hits it perpendicular. I fished on the north side and everyone around me said the bite was slow. They were using a little high on about a 10ft pole and just plopped it in the water. I was using minnows and got three keepers under a bobber no weight. I am no pro but by the number of cars that were parked in the grassy median off 380 there is something going on over there. Ok if you're going out monday morning I'll be out there.

I appreciate y'alls input a lot! I wound up going to 380 on the northside rip rap this morning. I arrived around 6:55am (53 degrees, 29.82 bariatric pressure, mostly cloudy, wind was SSW ~15mph) and used minnows. Everyone was jogging by the shore but in about 30 min I caught 5 white bass (11in-14in). I used a slip bobber that I put around 2.5ft-3ft deep. They hit hard at the crack of dawn and it slowed at the end of my trip (11am). Definitely going back tomorrow. Hopefully the wind will die down on the rip rap so the crappie can come back into shore.

Did you end up going out there today? I'll be out there in the morning with a bright orange hat. Stop and talk if you're out there.

They're not shallow in numbers yet, at least not in my opinion, I've found a few males shallow, but they aren't in full war paint yet and their tails don't show signs of being worn down. Females are still deep and so are a lot of the males, most of my fish have come from brush in 10-18'. It won't be long, but I think the best part will be (as usual) late April/early may. Eggs in the females still don't look quite ready to go.

Jerry Hancock has been catching limits up shallow. They are shallow and just like every lake, you have to know where to look.

Howdy TFF Bank Fishermen, Went out to the 380 bridge on Lavon at sunset yesterday. First time there, went to scout it out after discovering this forum thread. No Crappie but this Largemouth crushed my Roadrunner after I pitched to a little laydown. Good times on light tackle.

I went and sat by 380 the other evening and as the crowd began to grow I left. I just can't get into sitting and watching a bobber.. And I don't like fishing around a bunch of other people. Plus crossing 380 is a good way to get run over and killed.
Thinking I'll get the kayak and cruise down the rocks next time.

I hear ya kdub#1, I don't watch bobbers nor fish with crowds. I usually fish on weekdays and it was quiet there yesterday evening. But I thought the same thing about the dangerous parking situation on 380. Next visit will likely be in my kayak or boat.
