Spinnerbaits is what I found out after the BLT. You can catch 12-13&7/8ths bass on just about everything else.

Fished last weekend and two of us caught over 40 fish.
Buddy of mine tried spinnerbait, T-Rig and caught all of his fish on a squarebill.
I caught all my fish on a weightless sinko.
Found a cove that the wind was blowing straight into and we could have caught them on every cast. I kept backing off trying to find bigger fish, but never did. Never got bit on a T-Rig or a jig and I probably fished a jig for close to half the day and a sinko the rest of the day. Toss the sinko into stickups in 3-5' and let it sink all the way to the bottom and work it painfully slow.
I do know that I caught more 2-3 lb fish on the sinko, he only had a couple over 2 lbs on the squarebill.
Would have made a great trip for kids.
Running the main lake is pretty easy. Running hubbard creek as it empties into the lake isn't too bad. The river channel on my lakemaster card was spot on, but we never ventured that way this trip. Maybe that's where the big girls were.

I just pulled back in the driveway from fishing Hubbard Creek all day yesterday and half a day today. You can run the main lake with no issues. Watch for where you see salt cedars above the water out in the lake. They grown in any spot with about 5 foot or less. If you don't see the salt cedars, you are plenty deep.
On another note---if you took all the 10 to 14 inch bass out of the lake, the water level would drop 4 feet. I caught dinks until I was tired of catching them. There is an incredibly strong small fish population in that lake right now, and it is gonna be really good in a year or two. I flat couldn't get a big bite though. I fished jigs, football heads, big spinnerbaits, deep crankbaits and swimbaits from shallow out to 20 foot on ledges. Never caught a fish over 2 lbs.
Spent this morning just focusing on big fish and never got a bite. Went back to 10 foot and a craw worm and caught about 15 before it got so windy that I had enough.

Let's stop talking about this lake, people will forget about it and all will be well.

I'm so glad to see that lake starting to make a comeback. My wife was from Breckenridge so I fished Hubbard at least twice a month from the mid 70's for the next twenty five years. The old KEAN radio tournaments were great tournaments for their day. And, none of the west texas boys were scared of muddy water that was as clear as coffee. Lotsa money won back up in Sandy and Lost creek fishing straight up and down in the bushes. I had a mold we called an Octopus that I would pour either black or white and put it on a black jig, I sure miss those days. Now, on Fork, if the water is even stained, everyone panics.

Going there this weekend with my girlfriend since we have a break in the girls' softball...Anybody have any tips or is it like I'm understanding just throw spinners and squatters and catch little ones? Used to catch good ones on weightless flukes and white spinnerbaits, but that was before it dropped...Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recall one KEAN radio tournament in about 1985 where they had some joker that called himself Rolando Martinez that they would interview every hour. He said he was a skin diver for Rotor Rooter. He was always on fish. Good times.

Figured the shallow brush was perfect for a spinnerbait. Couldnt get bit on it at all. You can catch all the fish you want on a shad colored squarebill however. Better fish came on sinkos, but never caught anything over 3 lbs. We fished 4 different creeks/coves and caught fish at each stop in the same manner. Never could find bigger fish though. Fish were definitely stacked in backs of windy coves.
