Went on a 10-15 minute flash trip to test a new rod this morning and had my wife video me pulling in 3 crappie. I wanted to show the strength of this 5'4" rod and send the videos to my brother (who wrapped the rod for me).

When my wife and I got home, she texted me a picture of the rod loaded up nicely with the sun coming up in the background so that I could forward the picture onto my brother.... I noticed a blue "orb" in the picture. Checked all three videos, and sure enough, it's in all 3 videos and hovers (randomly/erratically) and casts a light all around itself in all three videos..... I don't know how to explain it other than the light looks like the opposite of a shadow.

All the videos were shot with an iPhone camera... no trick photography, etc. I never intended to share the videos but when I got home and watched them, thought this was worth sharing.

My wife slowed down the most visible part of the best video to show how the shape moves contradictory to my line, fish, rod, and self....

Let me know where that bridge is and I'll tell ya! Most likely the sun reflecting off of something on the lens, but I am no photographer...optical illusions are fun!

It looks like a sunspot, especially as it gets down towards the bottom of the video nearer the bridge. I wouldn't go skinning a dead cat at midnight just yet.

Do you have a protective case on it? I have a waterproof case and I get rays of light sometimes if the light is just right.

Jerry.......that is actually something folks try to capture. Unlike the ring of halos that are seen on pictures that are from your lens or apature, this is particules in the air that the sun enhances. Right now, probably the huge amount of pollen in the air.

I know where the bridge is located...he will take you there and catch all the fish while you are trying to find a bump...then, he will give his spot and move to yours and catch the fish out of that spot...just saying he has got the fish on that bridge trained to follow him! Looks like a water spot to me, although it is much more fun to discuss interstellar space travel as the culprit...Jerry, you need to name a jig after it...Blue Orb...or something.
