With another post about aluminum boat options some of you wanted to see pics of my new ride.
I've fished a couple of local events and its getting a lot of close looks from others.
I'm giving just a brief summary and will answer some of the questions I typically get.
It may not be for everyone but has a lot of advantages if your looking for an aluminum rig.
Gator Trax is located in Springfield, La.
They custom build these to your desired overall length.
Mine is 21' with 92" beam and front deck is 72" where I stand.
They use 3/16" (.1875) aluminum compared to the typical (.100) used on the majority of other brands. This makes it almost impossible to dent when riding over wood. Also the boat is heavier which really helps the ride in rough water. Handles very well. No sliding.
Mine runs low 70's with a good load. I've seen another one similar to mine run 77.
Wind doesn't blow front end around.
Storage is great. Actually better than any other 21' fiberglass that I've seen.
Easy access to batteries, etc.
They use HydroTurf in lieu of carpet. This stuff will not get hot or slick. Hoses off easily.
Live wells are divided and large.
They installed a 50 gallon gas tank in mine. If a long run is needed thats not a issue.
Our lakes are brutal on our boats. This boat is a tank or battleship that runs fast and fish's great.

Only down side to a custom aluminum boat is financing. Gatortrax has a great name built on duck hunting.

I fished out of this boat at Table Rock in a pretty stiff wind and it was solid. Great boat.

That's a fine looking aluminum boat. If I knew that one was out there when I bought my fiberglass, I would have considered one of those.
Nice!

That would be a good option for those who fish fresh and saltwater. Just put a quick release mount on the trolling motor so you can have a hand control in the saltwater. Already has a aluminum trailer.

I run a 1754 Gator Trax duck hunting. They build some sweet boats. They pay close attention to detail and layouts of boats.

Ive also seen Rodney2100's boat a bunch on the water at Fork.....its a sweet ride and that boat can be fished anywhere!

Pricing can vary a bunch just depending on size, motor size, and all the other options available.
Their website lists pricing for the different boat lengths. It list 18', 19', 20' , etc. but remember they will build it 19'4" if that's what you want. It's best to contact them direct for firm pricing. You can have them rig it or just buy the boat and get your local shop to rig it. What I really like is they will make changes to layout per your own needs. Rodney's boat is 20' and mines a 21' and you can see how our layouts are different.

What an awesome boat! Love the padding instead of carpet.

The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

Great looking ride David! One thing I know about you is you are not afraid to take you anywhere! Sure looks like the right rig for that...love the deck myself.

One thing you should do tho is get a little more organized...your boat is a mess roflmao

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

How's stability side to side? Rock much if co-angler switches sides?

BPS sells their duck boats at some locations but wouldn't have this model.
Im in Rockwall if anyone needs to take a closer look at the strike series.
Also they have contacts for financing if needed. It's not a issue.

Guys,

Gator Trax is not a huge company. They do make a lot of duck boats. They do not make many of these Strike series bass boats. I was talking with Kent when we were designing my boat he told me they made between 3-6 of the strike series boats a year. They most likely build more now because they are such great boats. The nice thing about Gator Trax is that you get to design the boat. They will do anything you want. These are not cookie cutter boats. David the OP is correct. The hydro turf is great stuff. It is a closed foam material. It does not get hot. When it gets dirty all you have to do is spray it with a hose and it looks new. The first boat they built for me was one of their duck boat that Kent help me design so I could use it for duck hunting, crappie fishing and shallow bass fishing. They are great people to deal with. Kent is one of the owners of the company. He will help you design any boat you want. He is a straight shooter and does not blow smoke up your arse. below is the duck boat they built for me back in 2011

GT builds one of the very best mud boats on the market. I have friends who have been abusing (running) them for years and they are tough, well built boats.
I'm a year or so out from buying a new boat, this one just got added to the short list.
70mph in open water and no worries about leaving glass on the stumps in the nasty stuff..... worth looking at.

I just stumbled across these boats on the internet yesterday. The versitilty alone from this boat and its construction is impressive. When we retire and fish the country this is it. Fresh Water, Bays, Ive found jet drive companies for a lower jet unit to carry around and throw on for some Idaho River fishing. This is a hull that will take the abuse outlast any glass boat and with little to maintenence.

Now I am going to have save more money!

Watched a video online.
Couple questions.
1. Is there any floatation in this rig?
2. Are the livewells insulated?
3. The hull design looks fast but flat. Can anyone that owns one or riden in one say they like it in big water?

Viable questions. I know of areas where they could excel though when I think of rocky lakes up north and TBend too but the big water comes into question when thinking of TB and Rayburn..

that was with a 200 merc and no electronics was just as much as a fully rigged top of the line glass rig with a 250 sho on it.

I have a 21. Been on Toledo, Rayburn. and Texoma with 20-25 mph winds and higher gusts. The boat can handle it just fine. Its a tank. When its brutally windy you will feel them a little more than a 21 glass boat because it doesnt have the flex you get in a glass boat. However it isnt that big of a difference. For me the advantages far outweigh any areas that might be slightly different from a glass boat.

Thats great David, I definitely want to see this boat when Iam ready to pass on my Ole Ranger. My first boat was a Old Rivited Grumman and I beat the brakes off that thing. I can see with solid and heavier construction how GTS would perform more like a glass boat.
If a person has been a lifetime Angler and Boater and has every plan to continue
this should be your last boat. Iam tired of fiberglass repairs, waxing, chipped gelcoat, rusted trailers and CARPET. The no maintenance and versitilty is what Iam after and that would be worth alot of money.

Nice rig. I like these boats a lot. Good thread.

OP, your pictures are gone. Can you reload them using a different method?

The Strike Series is a great looking boat but I already have a Ranger Z21 and wanted something that could run in shallow water as I live and fish mostly in South Louisiana. GatorTrax custom built this 20 foot tunnel hull for me with a front and back deck layout similar to a bass boat. Put power poles, an Ultrex, hydraulic jack plate, and Lowrance HDS. This boat will run upper 50's, get on step in less than 1 foot of water, and run on step in 6" water. It took me 9 months to get it propped optimally but now that I have that straight I really love the boat and get more compliments on it than I do on my Ranger. Without the large front deck, it gives me options to safely bring my young grandchildren and I can fish the marsh or even salt water bays without worrying about the effects they would have on a glass boat. GatorTrax was great people to work with. I'll even admit that they made a couple suggestions that I didn't do that I now wish I had.

My team partner has a new 21 foot one. I can second David its a great boat. I was a little apprehensive when he told me he was ordering one but I have been super impressed with the ride and the way it fishes.

The more I read about them and the more I look at their website the more I am intrigued. I'm sure its like anything else they get more and more expensive but their base prices look pretty affordable.
