1. Tell me about the dangers, where I can and can not run? 2. How is it past the bridges?
Thanks,

Starting at loyd park as you come out of the creek and turn left you will see timber in the middle. You are clear in the center until you get to the bend to go to the other side of the lake. There are two long shallow points coming off the inside bend to watch out for on your right. Stay towards the center and you are good all the way around to you get to the bridge on the other side of the lake. After that you will see standing timber so be careful over there.
Pretty easy to navigate with not much hidden that would not be obvious with surrounding timber.

Mountain Creek (east arm) is wide open from the dam to the Lake Ridge Parkway bridge. After the bridge it quickly becomes a mine field going up towards the actual creek. There are bouys marking the boat lane but they don't appear to have been maintained and many are missing. I have not trusted them in years. Used to put in at Britton Park and you were already nearly to the creek. It closed years ago, unless it reopened. Maybe someone will chime in on the accuracy of the buoys and navigating upper Mountain Creek arm.

I run them but they will take you pretty close to a tree. Run at your own risk. If you see standing timber you best slow down until you learn where the hazards are.

Britton Park ramp is still open (at least it was in September when I launched there last) and it's free. Be very careful leaving the ramp, as soon as you turn north your already in a stump field. Turn south and your pretty much to the creek already.

Britton Park is $5 to launch, there is a self-pay station near the park entrance, right next a large sign telling you to stop and pay the entry fee.

Adding Boating HD apk to a android tablet works great for keeping tabs on running the creek channel. Went today to Joe Pool the bass were in shallow water, also sandbass were running in large schools in front of lynn creek swiming beach 35ft water.

If fishing really shallow, like me, watch out for lots of sawed off stumps in less than 3 ft of water. Almost everywhere along the banks. Mostly the north sides of each arm, below the bridges, is clear. The upperends of each arm have trees....lots of them. The eastern upper end has boat lanes....stay on them or idle. The western upper end can be run. If you are in casting distance of a viable tree on the western arm, you better be on the trolling motor or trimmed up and idling. When running the western arm, stay to the western bank +\- 150'yards and you're good. It's shallow in some areas...but mostly clear. Fun to see the skeg marks on side scan...lol.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.
