You can't use the installation instructions that come with the unit except under very unusual conditions. It always tells you to use a straight edge and adjust the transducer so that the transducer is level with the bottom of the boat. The bottom of the hull is never level to the water at idle or any other time. The level and coins is the best method I've seen yet and its a one time adjustment. No reloading and unloading trying to get the right angle.
