Hi All,
I am pretty new on this fishing thing, i have been fishing at willow grove park ($2.00 parking) and Llela ($5.00 parking) and at boat ramp near Lewisville lake. I have not been able to catch anything.. I dont have an boat and i really don't know where to fish or learn how to fish. any ideas?

was at the boat ramp (shady shore) but did not catch anything with my rod at 7am~11am 3/8..

my goal was to get a bass or hybrid.

Bank fish the creeks that feed the lakes. Google up earth maps for creek locations. The fish are in the creeks spawning right now.

I would recommend you start by fishing community ponds. They usually have perch, catfish, and bass in them. It's free, close to home (usually), and it's a great place to learn to fish. Learn the different knots to tie, line size, hook size, how to cast, how to unhook a fish, how to present a retrieve.
Also watch every video you can on how to. Fox sports outdoors offers lots of tips. So does this forum.
The guys are right, most fish are in the creeks right now and it's the best time of year to bank fish. Try and get away from boat ramps and fish more secluded water. Try small jigs, road runners, and lipless crank baits (you will lose plenty of lures).
If you really want to learn to fish, hire a guide. They can teach us more in a day than we can learn in a year.
Save your money and go with a guide. You will not regret it!
Good luck and happy fishing!

@ Terry,

Thanks... I know some very basics..... i been using Power Bait Shad (with hook in it), and worms........ and how i tie it is twist it a couple times and loop and pull....

today a guy (family) showed me on making a weight on the bottom and a loop on the top using minnows with a large hook, but i didn't catch anything.

i got gloves and a plier for removing hooks from fish. and i got the basic catfish kit from Walmart....

If you are on the bank, I'd recommend bank fishing at Ray Roberts buck creek the next three or four weeks. It's almost time for crappie to begin spawning very shallow. Buy a couple dozen minnows and fish them on a bobber about 12 inches down along the bank. After dark, you can actually see them in the shallows by the big mercury light at the ramp.

Good luck.

John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.
