Hi guys! I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any lakes that are a little safer in windy conditions? Through experience I have learned that lakes like Tawakoni and Texoma have very rough conditions when the wind picks up. I'm not sure if it's just the shape of the lake (big open water) or the location but I've had to head in early several times due to the wind when the weather was reporting the wind to only be at about 10mph. My thought process is that lakes like Whitney and possum kingdom won't be a treacherous due to them having a long and winding shape. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

You can't beat the wind on any lake. Just be careful.

Whitney can be just as bad as Tawakoni and Texoma. I've witnessed it first hand. Not sure about PK.

Marine Creek, Arlington and the upper end of most but not all lakes will be less rough.

Depending on wind direction, there are a lot of areas on Whitney to get out of the wind. Just stay out of open water, 'cause it can get rough.

find a protected cove like Ray Roberts Buck Creek that goes east to west. The worst wind is usually from the north or south. If you cannot do that, launch on the side of the lake the wind is coming from and avoid the windy side.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Ok guys, I guess I'll just have to find a cove or creek that's a little more protected! Thanks for the input
