Do you guys ever run trips on days they have tournaments like megabass, Mcdonalds, skeeter owner's tourney, etc... or do you guys generally try to avoid those days? I mean I can see all negatives associated with fishing on those specific days with clients... but just wondering if you've ever run trips on those days. I bet those that have, have some stories, lol.

Rarely, most customers don't want any part of it either, if possible try to book a different day and if not ask if they would be interested in another lake. There is a rare occasion where their heart is set on fork and it's the only day they can make it. It's inconvenient for sure but not that big of a deal imo, I mean I fished those events before I guided and usually caught fish so why shouldn't my customers be able to catch them on the day of those events as well. I think we get in our own head way too much at times in this sport.

Fork can be very fickle about a lot of pressure. The bass don't like biting with to much pressure but because of shear numbers of anglers their will always be fish caught. They will always have a day when the moon and stars line up and you can have a good day but not very often. Theses are just some of the reasons guides don't go on big tournament days. I can tell you the numbers of boats can be a ton and from what I have heard this one is going to have a huge number. I have been told they expect over 2000 anglers for this tournament. The other is some tournament anglers take it a little to serious and can make for some bad days for both guides and clients. just my .02

Done fairly decent during these times ,since tournament folks have to be off the water in the afternoon and not back till morning. Fishing at night has a few perks...just my ... 2000 Fisherman on Fork on the same weekend during spawn..wonderful news.
In order to catch Big Fish..Sometimes you gotta Suffer.

There were 1,800 Five years ago when I won it.
