Shallow water bite has disappeared with the cooler weather. Water temps are 55-58 degrees most places. Colder up the creeks than on main lake due to the cold nights and lack of sun. The wind has really limited us the last two days and only fish we could find are in 8-15' water. good fish when you find one but I have not found them stacked up anywhere in big numbers. Find some cover in mouth of coves or out from spawning areas and you will find some big females staging. text book stuff but again, I have not found any big numbers in one area. Cover a lot of water and fish a lot of stuff and you will find a few fish.
This will change quick if this weather warms. I think by Saturday fish will be back shallow in places you can find some 63-65 degree water.
get up in coves and creeks and go as far as you can and you will find the warmer water once sun comes out. My shallow fish have been coming off rocks and bushes in 1-2'. muddier the water the shallower the fish. Color does not matter if you stick it in front of one. I have been using black/chart and orange/chart with the murky water.
Headed to Belton and will be back out on Sunday. I will post a report Sunday night.
I have next Monday open as of now.
Here is a couple good ones that Travis stuck this morning. Lavon does have some great quality fish this year.

Thanks Jerry. I'm going tomorrow, likely Mallard area. Unless you jump back on here and tell me to go further north!

When in doubt, set the hook

I wouldn't be afraid to start there.
Good luck

Weather will be warming up nicely Friday through the weekend into early next week. South winds will be picking up though and days will be breezy or windy at times. FYI

NWS webpage

Your NWS/TFF senior meteorologist. That should help warm water temps and get them moving again. Just click on the counties map in the middle of the page approximately where you're at or want weather for

Good luck!

Hopefully it's better than last week. Couldn't get bit at all and really didn't mark too many fish in that area. Saw a few boats fishing real shallow, but didn't see anyone catching.

Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.

Jerry,

Appreciate your reports and friendship as always.

I have been traveling to lakes X and Y.

There have no doubt been plenty of fish caught in certain areas in the shallows.

If you know the right spots on the lakes I am sure you found a few by now.

For Myself, Dad, and Mom we have still been targeting deep water Crappie. Say what? Yup. Deep Water.

We went Tuesday and caught over 150 of which we kept 41 nice ones. Gave the fish away to a boat of 3 that had zero fish.

Pepop's Grapefruit Limeade and Grape Limeade both days.

Dad and I went yesterday and we caught over 100 and we kept 46 nice ones.

All of ours were deep water.

Talked to another Angler that had just spoken to a guy that limited and all fish caught in 18 inches of water.

I went over to Dad's and we cleaned fish this morning.

The egg sacks were massive and the blood vessels were about to burst.
Several fish had eggs coming out.
Some of the males were Black as oil.
Some of the males had tails that were rubbed raw and red.

We caught all of our fish in 21-29 feet of water.

You can find them all over the water column.

When we go next week we are going to start looking for the shallow bite.
We had cork rods yesterday, but we were too busy getting bit in deep water to mess with it.

It is turning out to be an awesome Spring for Crappie fishing. thumb
