Who has done it? When is the best time of the year to go? What advice do you have? Did you use a guide? After a little research (5 minutes) it looks like something I would love to do with a group of buddies. None of us have kayaks, so we would have to rent or something...
It looks like a good time to me.
Posted in the OT also.

I am also planning this trip. I have been watching lots of videos and one thing I that i have gathered is I wouldn't want to do this without some Kayak experience. Something else I think would be a good idea is to rent a satellite phone for emergency and to check in. But lots of good information on supplies. I think my first trip will be Del Norte to Big Satan.

We have all spent significant time in kayaks and on the water, so that isn't much of a concern for us. I was just looking for a little bit of insight to the logistics of it. Drop off point, get out location, who you used for that portion of the trip.
One guy in the group does an annual trip down there, but I figured I would do my own research also...

Here's a tip that's worked well for me. Take your cooler and put about 2 inches of water in it, then set the whole thing in the deep freezer and freeze it solid. Put your drinks or whatever in it, then add as much crushed ice on top as it will hold. It's amazing how much difference that solid slab of ice in the bottom makes. I did a 7 day trip on the Rio Grande with daytime temps pushing 90 and still had ice left when I came off the river.

I did the Devils three or four years ago with a couple of buddies. Shane Davies is a good friend of mine so I had him guide us. Up to that point I had a decent amount of experience in a kayak but most of it was with Shane. My friends had never been in a kayak before. Given all that and Shane's knowledge of the area and it was a no brainer for me. We did it in April and the weather was perfect. I think we were on the river for 5 days and we had the time of our lives. We were on the fish almost the entire trip, which was awesome, but for me having a guide there was beneficial for several reasons. Obviously not having to worry about logistics was good. He kept us fed, and we had some good grub too. We never had to mess with gear. If someone made a mess of their reel or broke off or whatever, he was back to fishing quickly without messing with that. I'll go again someday and I'll do it the same way. Have fun out there. It's an unbelievable place.

Where would y'all go to rent a kayak? I don't feel the need to spend the $$$$ to buy one.
