Lots of questions in my mind. Whose propeller? His own or another boater?
I just can't see how he could have been struck with his own prop. The boat would have had to be going wide open and circle around to hit him if he had fallen off the back. Creek is too narrow for that to happen.
He couldn't have fallen off the front because there was no one in the back operating the tiller motor.
My gut feeling is there is more to be learned that hasn't been published in the news.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Boats have a tendency to circle around and run over you if you fall out. That is why kill switches are so important. I really feel for this family. Our prayers are with them.

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away (James 4:13-14). Death reminds us that we dare not presume on the future. We have only the present moment to serve God and our neighbors. The future is uncertain and life is fleeting.

Prayers to the family. Wear your kill switch. It can happen. I have a friend that was thrown from his boat. It circled him twice. The third time wrapped him up in the prop and killed a 150hp running at high rpms. He survived it because it was not his time to go. It can happen.

Very sad news! I'm praying for the boy, the wife and all of his family and friends. Special condolences to your friend BrianTx01. Hopefully someone remains in the young child's life that will still take him fishing!

Its a dangerous stretch with floating logs concrete ect. He was going too fast. But only thing that threw kid up and over birm was speed. So that probably helped the little one.Just getting him away from water. My buddy in a jet drive called in the wrecked boat with stringer of fish flopping around motor was still smoking. He pulled up used mans phone called his wife. she wasn't worried until they didn't come home later. Both life jackets were in boat. He looked around in woods for anyone to no avail. Called GW Tough deal.

I know some things. I happen to bowhunt that stretch of the creek. In a kayak so yea I know it well. now my buddy on the other hand is out there almost everyday fishing so he knows all the ins and outs of running a motor boat in that stretch.

Yes sapalmer this isn't the time or place for this kinda of BS. This family is grieving. Sad deal. maybe Brazos Bass Cat can understand this someday.

Some of the Texoma guys may remember a man by the name of Joe Tapper, who lived on the lake. Sometime in the 60's, Joe and a buddy of his were in a similar rig on the Red River below the dam. Coming up the river, they hit something underwater...the motor went left, the boat went right and Joe went left, overboard. The prop took the left side of Joe's face when it ran over him...no circling, no nothing. With no life jacket on, Joe came to on the bottom of the Red, and being the tough old bird that he was, he pushed off the bottom and surfaced next to the boat. His buddy was looking over the side of the boat and upon seeing Joe's mangled face, he passed out in the bottom of the boat. Joe had to pull himself into the boat, start the motor and get back to the ramp by himself. His buddy came to at the ramp and took him to the hospital. Joe survived the ordeal and lived to a ripe old age...not all are so fortunate. I tell this story because, YES, it can happen and happen quick. Pastor John is spot on with the kill switch. And please guys, always wear your life jackets...if not for yourselves, for those you will leave behind. It may just save them the heartache that this family is going through. May we pray that we don't hear of this happening again for a long time.
