I FINALLY have a free Saturday to fish....was headed to LBJ but just saw there's a big tournament there this weekend. Thinking of diverting to Travis? Where to put in if I'm coming in on 71 from HWY 281? Any help? Is Lake Austin better? Help us out Austin folks.....please.

Buchanan is fishing well. Might want to try that for bigger fish.

Buch and Travis are both fishing well. I'd be happy never going to LA again since they screwed it up. Depending where you want to launch on Travis, there are several options. The dam is $15, Jonestown (FLW launched here) is $15.....both are good lower end ramps. Arkansas bend will get you a bit more mid lake. If you want to go up river you can launch at Gloster for $5 and it will put you about 3 miles up from the split. The lake is fishing really good right now.

As far as Buch....I've only ever used Llano county ramp. It SUCKS when it's windy if you launch alone and there is only 1 small dock to tie to.....no where else to really beach without walking.

If you are fishing travis and coming from 281 /71 then the narrows would be easy. It is a very small ramp but should work fine. If you wanted to fish main lake and some river (pedernales or colorado) then you could go to pace bend.
