Gents,

Question, you have clear water, heavy stumps mixed with grass. Fishing for DD fish.

What line type of are you using? Braid or FC or Copoly.

What do you trust?

Blindshot,

If you can get bit with braid, then that would be my first choice. Using braid on some lakes will get you fewer bites. I don't know exactly why but that is a proven fact.
Lines other than braid, I would choose 20-25# Invizx or 17-20# P Line CXX.

Steve,

If you are just fun fishing then I would say 20# mono or fluoro would be fine but for the caliber of fish that you are after in the type cover you are fishing I would not trust anything but 65 braid.

I have posted this a bunch but it is an excellent article on the merits of braid even in clear water.

Judging by your pic you don't need any help- lol!
But I suppose I have to agree with Ken again-jeez.
Braid for that.
Man I hate losing a giant bass - it's sickening, so 50-65lb braid for that would be cool and you will still get bit.

I have decided I don't trust fluorocarbon in heavy wood and grass. Just wanted some other expert opinions..

You said it , why risk losing a monster on anything but braid..

25lb. Fluorocarbon if your down in the tree's. I tried doing straight braid and braid with Floro leader. The problem I was having. If you hook a true giant the braid can and will cut into the bark of the tree's once it digs into the tree you will play hell getting her to the boat.
