According to some your 17 and have already ruined your whole life....If your smart you wont be married for another 14 or 15 years and at that time if you cant afford to have a heater fixed then dont be pumping out kids.
Have fun, give it 100%, live the life you want and dont let anyone tell you that you cant do something.

'' hey tony guess what im doin when i graduate. striper guidein and tournament fishin ''
Randy, sounds good as long as you've got a Dad to back you. But think about five to ten years down the road when all your friends have graduated from college and have good jobs, your wife and your new baby are cold because the heater in your double wide has gone out again, and you've got to get up at 5:00 and go guide in 25 degree weather. You may figure out that its not as easy or fun as it used to be. Then what do you do.
Not trying to rain on your parade. Just take a couple deep breaths and think about it.
Joe WOW....... You know what I think is funny???? How some people are so wrapped in what the world says they should be. College, wife, Good Job etc, etc, etc!!!! The best thing I ever did was rely on myself to provide income. I started my own business. Those who say it's dumb to "trust in yourself" and to work for someone else because it's safe, and reliable are Cowards. Too scared to do what they love, because someone told them it's too hard, or it can't be done. Hey Randy...... If you don't listen to anyone else on this post listen to this...... Life is Short..... DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND THE MONEY WILL FOLLOW!!!!!

I think JD_onair is right on. I was at a seminar a few weeks back, and the guy was talking about "Enjoy the Ride", meaning life is short so why work at something you don't enjoy. "Enjoy the Ride" and get your striper fishing business going and fish tournaments. Who knows, maybe you have 4 or 5 other guys working for you in 10 years and they do all the work and you enjoy the money and the "RIDE".
I did'nt do what I wanted to when I was younger, so I work for someone else. Wish I did it different, but I'm too invested now. Your 17. "ENJOY THE RIDE"!!!

lets see... the kid is going to school full time.. thats more of a job than most adults do!!! I dont blame you one bit for fishing after school and on weekends!!! Thats what most the critics here do..... School is more important right now than a job... Soon I will be fishing after my job, and on weekends... For you to hold down a job and go to school shows discipline and responsibility... for the job to run your social/personal life in the ground for thier own benefit is disgusting...... you made the right choice!! And if you can win a few tournies.. you will have some extra income... do what you love and the heck with the jealous advise.

Agreed According to some your 17 and have already ruined your whole life..... Agreed. When I was 17 I quit my job delivering Pizza's because the boss man would not let me off to go home and watch the SuperBowl (even though I was scheduled to be off by then). I went home and ordered a pizza from there during the game. :-) If you keep your focus, responsibilities will come later in life (or you better hope they do). This is the age to enjoy yourself and make decisions like you did without throwing a wrench into your life.
Go Fishing!

I agree, enjoy life to the fullest and do what you love. On a side note, I am a college grad and I must say, my years in college were by far some of the most fun years of my life. I am still young and can honestly say that they will always be some of the best years of my life. I also had more time to fish in college then I do now and I had tons of friends who loved to fish as much as I do. However, college does not gurantee success and certainly not happiness. SOOOO, never let someone else tell you what to do. Enjoy fishing and good luck with the tournaments. I hope to be kicking your [censored] someday on the professional trails.

Just asking, if you are 17 and looking at your posting times shouldn't you be in school. You need to get your high school diploma first and then think about making a living.

Randy most of us in here know how you feel, but we still have to pay for our hobbies. I fished so much, I couldn't cut it in college, just couldn't stay focused. So I quit, which was a mistake. I took a job as a fireman and it has really paid off. They sent me to medic school so the money really isn't bad. Good retirement, which will be 30 years vested when i'm 50 so i'll be outta there! Anyway, best part is I go in at 7am, work for 24 and get off obviously at 7am the nest day, leaving 48 hours for the lake! During tournaments, find a buddy on another shift and swap shifts, so instead of 48 hours, you've got 96! Just like we say it, "Everydays a Friday!" Follow your heart, stay in school, but fish all you want.

HAHAHAHA fishin n-stead of workin ! Thats still something you can get away with at the age of 17. I say good for you.
I used to do accounting and income tax and had to get out of that because every year I would miss spring time fishing because I was working on other peoples tax returns.
And BTW concerning the marriage and having kids stuff posted earlier...stay single as long as possible.

Randy:i asked my boss if i could take off a few saturdays for the media trail on texoma and he said i could just forget about it so i told him he could forget about me workin for him.i ________________________________________________________________
You aren't old enough to remember Saturday Night Fever. Go watch it. In the movie, John Travolta loves dancing so much that he asks off from his day job at the hardware store and his boss says no he needs to work. So Travolta quits to dance in the contest. As he walks out, the man says, son if you don't plan for the future, the future will F you. Best line in the movie and best scene.
You must have had a lousy job.
