I am regretting doing this now but I decided to change the fluid in my tilt and trim. I have a 1985 150hp Evinrude.

Are there any tricks to purging the air out? I have the motor locked in the up position. Added fluid, then lower the motor and cycling up and down with the button. I have to help the motor all the way down and then have to help the motor back up. I do this a few cycles then lock the motor back up and turn the cap to release the air. I have done this probably 20 times and am seeing no improvement. My back can't handle much more of this. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to force the fluid into the unit to remove the air?

All up till it stops several times. Make sure you tightened the manual release.

Gary I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate? Do you mean keep moving the motor up till all the air is out?

The O-ring on the manual release was bad. Switched it out and back on the water.
