I'm NOT using 8lb guys. Not sure why that keeps coming up. I had 6lb red but will be switching to 4lb.

Fish aholic2 started the 8 pound topic.

So, Anthony, how about a fishing tournament, me and you buddy. Prove your 8 pound monofilament therory.

All of your proof is right here...

Does he need 4 lb line to catch fish at Rowlett creek? Absolutely not.

Will 4 lb catch more than 6 or 8 pound? I seem to do just fine with my 6-8 pound test.

Lol I want to have a tournament. I'll take your challenge tfly, but under these conditions. You give me +200, meaning 2-1 odds, your $400 to my $200. Since I will be fishing with 8lb test, and you'll be fishing with 4lb test. Can be mono, flourocarbon, braid etc...Just has to be consistent with the other person's line. We fish side by side to make sure neither of us are cheating. We both spool our reels with fresh line on the spot. No bait, only lures and jigs. We each pick three jigs or lures. We use the same ones, only those can be used during the tournament. Target species will be sandbass and hybrids. Hybrids are a bonus fish. One hybrid equals 2 sandbass. Let me pick the body of water and date.
Also, whoever wins has to donate the money to a charity of their chosing. I'll donate it to CAST for kids. You can write the check out to them so you know I'm not fooling when I win... :-). They'll be on lake calaveras for a charity event for kids with disabilities on April 8. Maybe you can come with me to show them a thing or two. SOOO... Game on??

That's not a fair bet! You can catch more fishes using 20lb test than I could catch using 4lb test. roflmao

Using 4 lb mono is ideal and your catch ratio will def go up. I might get broke off once a day. So I find no need to use anything heavier unless I'm specifically targeting hybrids. Using lighter line makes your lures more live and gives it more action. Lighter line also allows the live bait to look more like it's alive.

I'll put $200 on the line, more if you like. Just has to be worth my time, for somebody to show me that they can catch just as many with 8 pound mono while I'm using 4 pound. Mini tourney. Are you game Anthony? DFW creeks. I'll even let you pick the creek.

Lol I actually know that you can catch better with lighter line, but I just love a challenge. Tfly errrrybody knows that you know what u doing. I'm just game to put on a good show. Shoot, I think it'd be more fun to see who could catch the smallest fish on like say 30lb test. Lol

Besides freshwater fishing isn't even my forte. If we were fishing inshore or offshore, it'd be a different story, but most of y'all that fish the creeks yearly would show me up in RC. That being said....I'm still the best fisherman in the world. Lmao. It's like poker, everybody believes they're the best. Hahaha

Ok first, in that video, it's right after a rain and the water is muddier than normal, when it clears up, The person who is using 4lb fluorocarbon or 4lb mono is going to outfish you 3:1, maybe more. Get it through your thick skulls, it's not WHAT you throw as much as it is the LINE you throw it on.
