Are you making the kind you put in the water alone or the kind that you attach to your pole and add hooks?

You get a big, mad blue cat in the boat and the last thing you want is 5 hooks flying around.

Now I am going to use this . It will be a winner on the water. I will make sure my wager is made before getting it out of my box.

So have you guys watched any salt water chum making videos. I would think that scraps from cleaned fish would make a good catfish chum? Time for an experiment next trip. Now I just throw my old fish heads and guts into the garbage. I had rather grind it for chum.

Just chop up perch and use the whole thing. I'm thinking that if ou grind it up, it wouldn't stay in the tube very long. You could also use a chicken livers, or some range cubes, dog chow.. The possibilities are endless.

I used to make these exact chum tubes when I fished offshore. I'd grind baitfish caught in my sportsman nets, freeze in pvc tubes w/o holes and slip into the chum tube with holes when ready to deploy. They worked fine but were mildly expensive to build and a complicated when compared to what I use now. I now use milk jugs or similar containers. I grind up leftover shad, fish scraps, chicken liver, and rotted milo(add extra water). I funnel into jugs then freeze. These act as Ice blocks in ice chest to keep the beer cold until ready to chum. When on-site just knife holes in the jug big enough to let out bits of chum and tie to the boat. I like to tie off at waterline so that the wave action and rocking of the boat will liberate bits of chum out as the block melts. This works real well for slip corking shallow channel cats and they don't fill up on chum like milo thrown out on bottom for chum. Good luck with your project! CK
