So we have decided to sell the house that I love. It has everything I want and need and I have spent countless hours turning the backyard into a place I can enjoy and relax.

For reasons beyond my control we need to sell and buy a place that's bigger because my dad is moving in with us.

Anyways, I have always had gas heat, gas water heater, and the current house has a push button has fireplace which I love. The last lot available in Forney that is 1 acre with gas just sold yesterday, always a day late to the party. Everything else on 1 acre is electric only.

Since I've never had electric only, what am I in for as far as heating costs and water heater costs? House will be 3000-3200 sq ft and will have spray foam insulation on roof and walls.

You will not like electric heat when it gets below freezing, it is inefficient and expensive.

Cost more to heat in the winter than cool in the summer.

A shock, I'm afraid.

That's what I'm afraid of. Our highest gas bill was $95, and that was running the fireplace everyday. Our summer time electric bill never exceeds $200 and I keep my $2600sqft at 70

I moved from an all gas house to an all electric and I hate it. Worst decision ever. Can't wait to move back to a house with gas.

I'm trying to convince the wife to build up, as another master bed & bath on a second floor of our house. Dad can have the lower floor master unit

I have always lived in all electric houses. My electric bill is about the same winter vs. summer.

In spray foam yours will be much less. Who cares if your electric bill is a little less in a gas house.. you gotta pay for the gas.

Growing up on electric, I hate hate hate cooking on gas.

Under contract to build a house, won't close until house is complete, 6-8 months

I would never build 2 story, the heating/cooling is always off.

Why do you say that?

I have a 5 ton unit for downstair and a 4 ton unit for upstairs, I maintain a very even temp in the house.
