It has been about 6 years since I have been. I would like to make a trip Friday does anyone know the river stage at which the shoals are exposed and the Min river stage needed to get there from down river I remember there being a rock ledge that you have to get over about half way between boat ramp and shoals. I do not remember the details on the river stages (Beckville BEKT2) and for info I am running a 15' flatbottom with a 25 so I can get pretty skinny with it I just do not want to crack my lower unit on the rocks.

I've only fished the shoals this year. We fished above the shoals and caught over 100 both times between two of us.

Good Fishing To Ya,
Ruben

Sorry to jump in on your thread but I am intrigued by this stretch. I love a good distance away so not sure if I will get there this year but how is the stretch between HW79 and FM2517? It looks good from what I can see on aerials. I also have a friend and fellow fly fisherman that went couple weeks ago and they launched at River Ridge and went up river a bit and slaughtered some huge sandies on the fly.

We would be on kayaks so I would prefer to launch and not go more than 5-6 miles either way or launch and pick up down river. Any thoughts, no worries if not (we don't keep fish). If that heplps any. ;)R

The shoals are way north of Jane's. Most folks launch at FM1794, north of Carthage I think.. From there the
Shoals is upriver a ways.

It doesn't look like there is any places to park off 1794. Is there roads to the shoals, if so it will be packed I would think?

Will the ledge at black shoals be under water with current flows / levels? It looks like it might. HWY 43 looks like a better launch spot. I was thinking of launching there and fishing above and below some, has anyone camped out here before? Any warnings you would be willing to share?
