iv been using a Mister Twister electric knife for 3 years and like them ok but should the blades dull only after about 80 fish? i do cut through the rib bones and understand that takes away from the life of the sharpness but would think they should last longer than that. having to buy new blades 4 times a year is not good. and i do cut on a good plastic cutter board. is this normal or do i have the wrong brand of knife ? thanks

Never liked the Mister Twister. Ive been using the Black & Decker from Walmart for 3 years. Same blades and ive cleaned hundreds of fish with it. 12 bucks. If i do switch I'll get the American Angler, the orange and black one.

Haag, I usually just sharpen my blades every so often, until the serration wears out then go get another pair of blades...not sure how many fish I have cleaned with the current blades, but it is a bunch more than the 4 fishing trips you are talking about. They are easy to sharpen on those small motorized belt sanders you can buy for that purpose...

You can also sharpen them with a 5/32nds chain saw file.
Doesn't take long & they will be sharp as when they were new.

I have a piranha electric filet knife by mister twister. It has never performed half as well as my $13 black and decker electric knife from Wal-mart. This is the perfect post to offer it free to anyone who wants it. Local pick up in Leander. I don't want to ship it and I would feel bad selling it because it has no power in my opinion.

Mister twister has plastic gears unlike the brass ones in the American angler. I got my American Anglers back when academy sold em cheap and they're still going but if they weren't I would get the black and decker at Walmart before the mister twister. It's lucky to make it through 1000 fish before its toast.

I agree with with $12 regular electric knives in the kitchen wares area of Walmart. I have been using them for years. i did buy and try a Rapala electric knife a few years ago, what a waste. Was so hard to use, barely slice thru a crappie had to put as much pressure as if I was just using a filet knife. I think I threw it out. Don't know anything about Mr. Twister, but I would think blades should stay sharp longer than that.

2X on the American Angler. I use the salt water blades and they sharp and seem to last a long time.

Yes! American Angler fillet knife all the way. I have used everything else and they all feel underpowered to me.

Would like to give to the Mister Twister rep some time. I was never able to clean a fish with it. Absolutely not enough power. I keep 2 or 3 Black and Deckers. Always a new one in the truck in the box just in case.

My blades are worn out on my Mr Twister Piranha. First time the knife outlasted the blades.
