I have been looking for a rod just for that, my price range $1000 to $1500, what would you recommend? By the way, I also would like to crappie fish with it and throw whopper ploppers to. Please say Dobyns

Try hooking them to an umbrella rig and flipping thick brush. Did this last week, best five was 41 lbs.
