Dang Jim, you should have introduced yourself when you stopped me I don't argue when I get stopped, and have deserved every ticket I've gotten. Folks have it right, some people aren't taught respect.

I have a couple of questions about the tire size change.
1. Are 32s bigger than 35s? Seems like they would be smaller and make you be going slower than 55 when your speedometer says 55.
edit: By my calculations, it's closer to a 5 mph difference if the 32 and 35 are the outside diameter of the tire. (when the speedometer says 55)
2. Does the radar connect to the speedometer in order to compensate for your speed for the speed reading of the vehicle you are using it on? If so, then your speedometer being off due to tire size change would make your radar readings incorrect.

I don't think it's fair to paint with such broad strokes to say "all cops are bad" or "all cops are good" or "all Dereks aren't right." They're just a subset of folks. Some are good, some are bad, and a lot fall somewhere in between, just like the rest of society. They also see some pretty messed up stuff too, so I think that earns them some leeway (to an extent).
My old legal practice professor who practiced criminal defense for 30 years always gives his classes a lecture about dealing with cops, because a first-year law student can be one of the dumbest, most dangerous things out there because they've read a few abridged court cases and think they know everything. He always reminds them to be as polite as possible, because nearly any moving violation is an arrestable offense, and the cops know the law better than we do.

I don't know how long you've been in, but I can tell you I don't believe much has really changed. I could have written that same story 25 years ago. I ask him why he is speeding, tailgating, and changing lanes in front of people without signaling, in front of a marked police vehicle. I never used to argue or lecture. That wasn't my job, that's for the judge. Here's your ticket, please sign. Any hesitation on their part, just write REFUSED on the signature line (judges hate that), hand it to them and leave.

A couple years ago it got real popular to blame law enforcement for everything.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

unfortunately society as a whole thinks if they don't agree with the rule or law they don't have to abide by it. And if you call them on it you become the bad guy.

I'll admit, often I drive like an idiot but when I'm caught, I pull over immediately, I'm courteous, and I accept that I deserve a ticket and often this controlled behavior leads to a warning. On a side note, I once got three warnings in a row for speeding on a trip from Florida back to north Georgia. I was in a hurry to get home so I could catch enough Z's to fish a tournament the next day and that was the excuse I gave all three police officers. Evidently police like fishermen.

I think it has changed. Each generation has gotten a little less respectful. When a youngster sees his dad speeding and bragging about it and then sees him arguing with the policeman guess what? When he gets to be an adult, he does the same thing, only a little worse. We have become progressively less respectful and less responsible over time. That is generally true, but not absolute. There are some really smart, well behaved young adults that are in control of their life.

I'm never a jerk when I get pulled over. For one thing, that police officer can make my day a lot worse than a simple ticket. I also figure they deal with enough BS. I usually try to at least get a laugh out of them. I got stopped on business 121 a few years ago by a bike cop. As soon as he started to move his bike I pulled over. He commented that I stopped pretty quick. I replied with well I was doing 75 when I passed you. We laughed. He gave me my ticket. And I went on my way. I knew I was hauling ***. My fault not his.

My hats off to all LE Jim Ford. Y'all have to put up with some of the worst of the worst. I couldn't do it.
We watch the Live PD show on the A&E channel. It is unbelievable the number of dopeheads and drunks driving amongst us daily. Every time, "Uh, that's not mine, I don't know how it got there". Lying lowlife scum all with no licenses and warrants and crackpipes on the floorboards.
I'd have to shoot every one of them.

way too much of this "if I had a son,he would be just like Trayvon martin"....every instance of rioting in last several years has been provoked by minorities either fighting with or running from law enforcement officers....way too much political correctness(making excuses for or ignoring bad behavior)and not enough time on the chain gang for commiting crimes....

Similar to Huckleberry, I drive faster than the speed limit. Almost all the time. I DO NOT drive like an idiot, however. 10 mph over the speed limit is about my max. I do drive a tad more aggressively than I should, although I suppose that has something to do with my racing background and learning to drive in Houston. But that is not an excuse. IF and WHEN I get pulled over for a moving violation, I pull over immediately, and take my medicine. I did relinquish my CDL and went down to a class C license so that I could take deferred adjudication and pay my fines without the insurance hit.
I was given a warning from a zorrillo while hauling butt back from Piedras Negras once. Back in '96, and I was late getting back to Lackland after partying in Mexico all night. I was running just under 100 mph, had lost both shoes and a shirt the night before, and the trooper was a reserve AF officer. He laughed at me, called me a dumb [censored] and told me to slow down. Good times.
