 Think I had the Lake Record!

Went crappie fishing yesterday afternoon on a local lake and I caught the largest crappie of my life. The crappie was full of eggs and measured 16 3/8". I thought about taking it to have it weighed somewhere around the lake but when I was backing my trailer in the water to load my boat I noticed one of my trailer wheels was about to fall off. So after about 4 hours of replacing the wheel bearings I just took all of the fish out of my livewell and into an ice chest with ice on them. This morning I looked at the lake records and saw that the record was 2.94 lbs. I know that this fish was over 3lbs. I guess I will just have to catch another one.

The fish is on ice in a cooler in the back of my truck. Sounds like your jealous 202.

Take some pictures of it beside some measuring tape so we can check it out. Catch another so you can get it weighed.

If it's on ice, you could go ahead and get it weighed. I don't think it would matter as far as any record is concerned. But you might find that it's only 3/4 of a pound or something.  That would at least ease your mind on the potential record breaker.

I would be fishing for another species ie: "BASS" but someone has all of my tackle in there boat in San Antonio!!!!!!!! Chris you been up there lately. Yesterday there were only 2 other boats while I was there!

Congrats on the big fish, but I don't think a 16 3/8" will weigh 3#. I caught several fish 17.5" and they only weighed 2.8 17.5 " fish full of eggs weighed at 2.97

Well the certified lake record was 15.5" and weighed 2.94 lbs so I just assumed mine would be close to 3 lbs. You are probably right though it was probably around 2.7 or 2.8.

Dr. Crank, I have been catching my limit on a regular basis. However I fished yesterday from 3PM until 7PM and only had 21.

Try maybe 2.0 to 2.4 pounds
