Howdy

We want to take our kayaks to Rebecca Creek to fish for some whites. I'm a newbie to fishing for white bass. When does the season start? It's Rebecca Creek a good area to go in a kayak?

Thanks!

Give it another week or two if it stays warm. Big females still out in the cranes mill area.

If you're looking for the Rapids past Rebecca creek that's gunna be a crazy long paddle.. However, I've caught a few up there already. But still catching whites and striper by cranes mill and even Jacobs creek.. They don't all go up river, but a majority should make it up there this year with good current and water level.

How far and what direction are the rapids?

The Rapids are about 4 miles upriver from Ramp 11 (Rebecca Creek Ramp). Just don't make the mistake of doing what I did the first time I launched there. The ramp is not in the main river so don't head "Upriver" from the ramp like I did. Instead head left from the ramp (east) a few hundred yards and turn right at the main river. Anyone launching a boat with a trailer should know that is a notoriously slippery ramp, which is why you will see a parking lot full of 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Thanks for the reply and info. I'll be in a 14 ft kayak. Don't mind the paddle at all. Love being with nature.
So when I launch, I head to the Guad, then take a right and that is considered "upstream?" I just don't wanna make the wrong turn and head in the complete wrong direction. lol

One way to know you are in trouble is if you are launching with a 2 wheel drive vehicle and while backing down the ramp with the boat still on the trailer, you lock up your brakes and the boat and vehicle continue to slide down the ramp with the wheels locked up.
The ramp doesn't look that steep or slippery so don't be fooled. If you are one of the first to launch while it's dry you should be ok, but once it gets wet all bets are off.

Just one more cast!

yes Tony iff you are looking for the rapids take a rt when u hit the river. However, if you take a left there are some great trees for crappie fishing too. Overall just a great place to kayak fish.

"Ahhh, yes yes...who has time? Then again, if we never take time, then how can we ever have time?"

Chartreuse road runners with a slow retrieve, curl tail grubs, same color or white, gold flake tube grubs.

Anyone fished it in the last week thinking of going tmr.

Politicians, baseball players, high-powered corporate CEO's they all seem to eventually let us down. Nature, however, does not. Look to her for inspiration and you will learn the secrets to living a good life. The most Important lesson it would seem is to make sure you spend as much time fishing as anything else.

Yep. Limited on wednesday. Slow going, but still pulled a limit. Lot of females (15 out of 25) but the eggs are not quite ready to lay in most of them.
