What kind of speed should this boat run with two people nothing else in the boat other than gas with Yamaha 250 @5900 RPMs? Thanks

Is it a 520VX or a Z520? I'm assuming it's a Z520 since it has a 250. From what I have seen it should run 72-75 if set up properly and has the right prop.

Thats what I was thinking also. I test drove the boat and all I could get it to was 64mph 1/2 tank of gas with 2 people! I backed out of the deal for this reason.

Nope! I trimed it up and down also ajusting the hydraulic jack plate... That was GPS speed

64 isn't bad.
Backing out of the deal for that reason is not justified. IMO. It IS a Ranger. It ISNT a fast hull. It is a great riding hull.
You could have added a few Hydro Tec parts and a better tuned prop and had a hellafast boat.

Yeah I'm not an expert but... 64 doesn't seem terrible for that big ole ranger. See what Steez said above. Go look on BBC at some different Ranger setups and that should give you an idea what people are seeing out of that boat.

I have an 04 520vx with a 225 Yamaha no jack plate, my best is 65 gps, just me 1/2 tanks perfect cool day. 62 63 gps full tournament load. Just had my prop balanced and blue printed by SCP hope is helps a little but not counting on it 60 is plenty fast for me. I would think a 250 with a plate would do a little better, 70 72 maybe. How was the hole shot? may have been a prop issue. If you have any questions get a good mechanic to check it out or walk away.
