My 225 EFI runs fantastic top end and and at quick idle but anything below 5mph it's wanting to die, it won't keep a idle very well at low rpm. Any ideas from past experience? I've ran fuel out out new fuel and sea foam in it checked the Bubble and it's tight at the low idle. Any help??

Thanks !

I had a 99 mercy efi 225 and I bet it had a kazillion hours on it... was a good strong motor, still running good when I sold it..

I would start with new plugs (correct plugs) gapped properly and a new water separator filter. This usually helps a lot on these EFI motors.

From there:
Compression test
When was the last time the injectors and induction system was cleaned and tested?
Reeds (a chipped Reed or pedal not seating will cause this)
Check fuel pressure at idle, 15, 30 and 60 seconds after shutdown (record readings)
Pulse fuel pump
Exhaust tuner clogged

A good certified Merc tech should be able to diagnose and repair. That's what I would do.
It could be as simple as adjusting the idle screw... Have the TPS checked.

Good luck!! Get it fixed by a certified Mercury Tech before something major goes wrong.

04 EFI doesn't have an Air compressor.

Optimax has a compressor.

My 250 does the same thing at idle, but I noticed if I trim the motor up it will idle much better. You might try that.
