looking to fish this lake for the first time tomorrow. what area do you recommend going to? is this spill way any good and where is it located.

The actual spillway is on th west side of the lake, south off Tool. Not to be confused with the dam, which is on the south end of the lake. Kings creek ,where the biggest spawning run happens is up on the NW end of the lake. Most people access it on foot from FM276. I've never actually fished it myself but know plenty of people who do.
You don;t say if you are boat fishing or bank though, so it's hard to offer any real advise.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

If your boat fishing are you launching at public ramp between 7points and gun barrell city, just go north entrance to kings creek just west and north of island
