Are kayaks prohibited on lakes Kurth, Timpson, and Pinkston?
Are they prohibited on any other lakes where other boats are allowed? Not counting private lakes or CFLs that don't allow any boats.
I looked on the TPWD. Didn't see anything that said they were prohibited. Googled. Nothing.

I suppose I read someone saying this on FaceBook. But, I simply don't see anything online that suggests any public lakes are off limits to kayaks.
Private lakes? If they sell access to fishermen, I can't imagine them wanting to turn away business.
More follow up???

This did come from a FaceBook discussion. I'm Paul. Was wonering if y'all (and I know there is some overlapping members here and there) knew anything.
The YouTube video has a comment about not being allowed on Kurth in a yak, and need2fish2 says it's because of gators. That's what's being said on fb.
I'll email TPWD tonight.

Lakes in Brazos Bend SP prohibit any boating (official reason -- alligators, real -- they are afraid your estate will sue their asses off).

Well, now we have it, a solution to a problem that just doesn't even exist.
As best I can tell from casual research I did just sort of looking around a year ago or so, here in Texas there has been ONE death by an alligator attack in modern times. Some guy was showing off to girls on a dock, at night as I recall, jumped right in more or less on top of a large gator . . . didn't work out too well for him. I suppose he startled the gator, got bit, and drowned.
Raven Lake down near Huntsville has plenty of gators and it has a swimming area, pretty popular with campers with young children, promulgated rules regarding what to do if you get near or see an alligator (leave them alone). No issues, at all as the gators pretty much spend most all of their time up in the woodsy creeks.
So, this is it, this is where we are: TV news finally scared us over a statistical non-issue, to taking an action. Here in Texas, more people will die of bee or wasp stings, way more, this year than from an alligator-related death . . . or even an attack.
It does happen more frequently in Florida where the gator population is much larger and overlaps much more into human populated areas . . . and people can be, I think mistakenly, targeted, small dogs too for sure out for a stroll in early morning hours or late evenings. A golfer was attacked just the other day, used his putter to bang on the gator until it let loose.

Exactly, I grew up visiting the boy scouts camps in central/south Florida that have been canoeing and kayaking in the lakes/rivers for years. Paddled right at at them to make them dive, never heard of an attack.
