I'm taking my father in law to Whitney Wednesday morning because he just bought a house in white bluff and wants to get into fishing. Can anyone give me any tips? I usually fish on the south end by the state park and island. I was planning on dead sticking but it looks like the water is a little too warm for that (64-68 degrees). Any help appreciated

I'm no sandbass or striper guy so I can't help much except the water temp from king creek south is more in the 55-57 degree range with the exception of the very back of the creeks which is 60-61.

Ok, I'll keep an eye on the temp when we get there. If it's under 60 I'll be dead sticking!

It's definitely under 60 as of about 3:00pm yesterday.

I have seen people catching limits and fish to 15 lbs. Downrigging. ...from the photos and videos it looks to be on west side of the lake north of uncle gus a few miles on old structure.

I have not fished this lake but was at Tawk Sunday found fish on points. All fish cought on small swim bait and tail spiners. If the shad are small use small baits. Good luck

Big Baits .............Big Fish ..... The fish I cleaned Saturday had 8" shad in their belly ........ You may not catch as many .... But they will tear the water up .........

We made it out today and stopped at the island and around the state park. Tried deadsticking with 5" flukes and had a few bites but not many. The fish looked stacked up on the sonar so we switched over to some 1:2oz slabs and it was on. We caught a bunch of sandies in 45-55' of water about 25-30' down. All in all it wasn't a bad trip. Thanks guys
