Lately, my bosses have been agreeing to accept all sorts of junk from this customer in the hopes of finding a diamond in the rough.

It's one of those cheap ones you find at Walmart. It's not even heavy (40 lbs max)
The digital keypad is broken off and so is the knob to turn it when the correct key is typed in.

I'm thinking if just drilling a 1" hole into it take a peep inside to see if there's anything it.

The safe was at one point in a seismic vessel, which then may have some cash.
Sometimes the crews need to restock supplies and the stores in the seaports they're at will only accept cash.

Pick it up and throw it down on the concrete as hard as you can. It may open. If it's a cheap one, you may be able to pry it open.

You can also use a rare earth magnet to open some safes. I'll see if I can find a video.

nevermind I just got it opened with a hammer and crowbar. Pryed it and the locking pins are held against plastic latches.
Didn't even take 2 minutes to open it.
