Recently purchased a Humminbird 999ci and was wondering what Sensitivity and Contrast seems to work best for Side imaging and Down Imaging. I have watched a lot of Youtube and tinkered with it myself. Just wanted to see what you seasoned guys thought.

Side Imaging shallow-15ft
Sensitivity ______
Contrast ______

Side Imaging 15-25ft
Sensitivity ______
Contrast ______
---------------------------
Down Imaging shallow-15ft
Sensitivity ______
Contrast ______

Down Imaging 15-25ft
Sensitivity ______
Contrast ______

I have a 997 and 1199, on both I start graphing and stop screen with cursor, when I'm at depth I want to fish. With screen stopped use menu buttons and play with picture a bit. In just a few minutes you can get clarity and brightness set for sun conditions and depth your at to see exactly what "you" want to highlight.Try different color palette's too, for me it varies with daylight intensity allot. I like to have fish on the screen and get them to pop out at me with settings.

Thanks for the help. I have noticed the color setting, but have never ventured from the default. Is there a color you prefer?

I use blue most, but lots of the amber pics on here look sweet. When in sidescan and screen stopped, be sure to look at enhanced menus. I've had the 997 for years and just learned that you can eliminate the water column gap from the screen, on 9" screen it makes a great difference in details you can see, especially in deeper water. I seldom scan wider than 65' each side on 9" screen, just makes fish so tiny(at least for my old eyes) with 1199 can easily go 120-150' and still see fish well.

Since I run a 5 inch screen, if I see something of interest on one side, I switch to viewing that side only and it will use the entire screen for that side view. Even easier on my old man eyes.

Fishin' to stock Lake Crisco.
