 mercury 150 what get on plane

I have a 150 mercury year 83 have problem that is has on power to get on plane changed out switch boxes. tigger and stator read within spec of what book calls for but still no power and suggests thanks

Does it run up to about 2500 or so and just plow the water....OPTI

Could be the high side of the stator they will ohm out good but drop voltage at about 2000 or so while running only way to find this is with a DVA or you can take a timing light and check the fire and if it is dropping fire it will show up on either bank and will be all three either 1,3,5 or 2,4,6....OPTI

I take it you have checked the compression? If it is fine, next I would run the motor on a remote fuel tank with fresh fuel. If that doesn`t help, check all battery connections because I saw a 1984 Black Max that wouldn`t get on plane and turned out the guy had connected an onboard charger up backwards on the cranking battery. Dirty carbs or bad manual fuel pump diaphragms. Thermostats may have been removed.

OPTI that is what it is doing getting to around 2000 and plow. Will look into the timing light thing and see what is happing. I almost bought a new stator and trigger may just do it anyway. Thanks for info.
GP I have checked battery connections and I have only used pure gas and its only couple months old just because the boat isn't running but thanks for info

OK here we go I put the timing light on each plug on 3 and 6 plug it would light up spotty on the rest did fine could this be the stator?
