I am sure this has been discussed before, but I hear that 800 hz is better than 455 hz in shallow water. The problem I have is the 800 hz picture is too dark to see much. I adjusted the contrast and this doesn't help. What am I missing?

Why not try changing the palette? 455 gives you a "zoom" effect where 800 is like normal HD.

I have switched between the two and like the picture with the 455 better with the blue palate color.

That is how I currently use it as well. I just watched a video with shryock and he again emphasized using 800 to make the image sharper with better detail.

800 was better with the lss1, but it cut down on your side imaging distance due to the angle. On a lss2, 455 seems to work better.

I use 455 and like it a lot better than 800.

Ha. I'm having the same problem. Images on 455 look pretty good. Swap over to 800 and the image gets dark and you can't see anything. And I've watched several tutorials explaining that you should use 455 for searching, but once you've found something worth investigating swap over to 800 for better detail. Doesn't make any sense to me. I was hoping maybe an update to software I needed or something.

And, go look at humminbirds ads, 455 is good, 800 is better picture, and mega is crystal clear...

Sorry, Not trying to start a coke/Pepsi contest. Just pointing out that detail should be sharper with increasing frequency.

Bump.

Different brands have different results, mega isn't giving much si distance from what I've seen so far. Yes, it's clearer though.
