Isn't it amazing that one man's junk is another man's "GOLD".
All I use on my Dobyn's and Kistler rods are Black Max reels.
I have 3 gen 1s that are 3 years old and have never been taken apart or oiled.
I have 3 more gen 3s that will cast as far and reel as good as any reel $199 or less --- in MHO.
They may be inexpensive and a throw away reel, but when I throw it away after 3 years of service I really don't feel bad at all @ $39.00 in Wal-Mart.

you keep those Zillion's and Curados and you be sure to tear them apart,,,,chane the bearings,,,,oil them and be sure they are clean.
I'm sure you love em
My Black Max will land an 8 pound fish just fine without all that.

Sorry for the derail but...

I have Curados that I've never oiled in 10 years of fishing, let alone cleaned or changed the bearings.

Back on subject...

Will probably but some PQs for the boat just to have handy. Thanks for the tip.

Probably would never fish with this guy but he does instill some kind of funkta'fied wisdom.

I will throw a Black Max all day, they give me no problems at all and I've caught plenty of big fish on them and landed most! Now the line you spool means more for the situation.

Got the add in the mail yesterday. Doesn't say anything about in store only but it does say that they are excluded from the reel trade in discount during the Spring Fishing Classic sale(Feb17-Mar5). And a limit of 5 per customer.

SAKS, good point! I think you'll be able to get them online, but looking online they only list the 6.4 and the 7.1 gear ratios now. A week ago they had the 5.2 still listed but low in stock. Some of the stores might have some of the 5.2 and 4.7 ratios still left in stock.

This sale use to be the Black Friday sale also, but they didn't have it on these this past Christmas. I noticed they have a new Pro Qualifier 2.0, so the original is probably on its way out.

Well the 2.0 is not listed on the BPS website now, and if you link the page listed on Google the BPS page says something like, sorry for the inconvenience the item has been moved or is no longer available. They possibly removed it, so there would be no confusion on which reel is on sale.

Just wanted to update this!

The sale is in store only, and if you're a preferred member, they are allowing those early shopping on the 16th from 6-9pm.

Update on the Pro Qualifier casting reel - I was in the Grapevine store yesterday, and while checking out, I asked if the spring sale price on that reel would be honored on Thursday night at the Outdoor Rewards event. He said, "We're honoring them right now. We sent out the flyers too soon. Just bring the Spring Classic ad in with you, show it to us, and we'll sell you the reel for the sale price. I'm on my way over there now to pickup a couple of them.

Thanks, I'd guess the Garland location has the same policy?
