You guys are the most honest fishermen on the planet. There are exactly two fishermen that wouldn't call that fish a ten pounder. Congrats to you two. GREAT fish!!!!

It used to mat up out to 15' and then one year it was completely gone. Never seen a stalk since. Probably been 10 years or so The hydrilla was treated with fluoridone in Spring 2011 by TPWD. They were suppose to survey how effective the fluoridone was in the Fall of 2011 and decide if grass carp was needed. I fished the lake a couple of times and it seemed all the hydrilla was gone. Since I was curious, I emailed Mark Webb and asked if the grass carp was ever stocked. He confirmed 900 were put in the lake at a rate of 3 per acre of hydrilla. There have been a few times over the years they would kill the grass when it got problematic for the homeowners but they never introduced grass carp until 2011. Usually after a grass kill it would start to come back 3 to 5 years later. Personally, I would not have believed 3 grass carp per estimated acre of hydrilla would have been enough to keep it gone. They put the carp in after the grass was poisoned so technically there was not an estimated 300 acres of hydrilla anymore. Mr. Webb said they believed there would be a 10% mortality rate of the carp per year so you would think that about half should be gone. I would have thought there would be some showing up by now but I have not been on the lake in a year.

really fun lake to fish. I'm sure it was amazing with the amount of hydrilla I've heard used to have been in it. Fishing is still good though, plenty of solid fish in Houston co.
