I'm planning on mounting a fish finder on my ascend fs-12t and I need to know what else I'll be needs besides the product itself. What battery, extra cables, mounts, dry boxes, etc?

1) battery box - lots of examples in/around the forums. Here are the builds i posted a few months ago here - Battery Box Builds 2) mount of some sort - I use a ram mount - there are a few other decent brands out there. you can also permanently mount to your kayak if you want. I've found i don't need any extra wires for my kayak - but depending on your layout, switches, and what you do with it you might.

What battery would work good? 12v?

Battery box, display mount, transducer mount. I use a Ram mount for the display and a Mad Frog Liberator for the transducer. The battery is in a $3 Rubbermaid container. You need to read your sonar manual to see how many amps it draws, and then get a battery that will have the amp hours you need for a day on the water.

Some people use the inexpensive 12V batteries made for deer feeders. They should have enough capacity to run it all day (depends on size of your fish finder) and they are cheaper than anything else I've seen.

If you know the power consumption of your FF and how long you want to run it then you can figure out what size battery to buy.
I've never been good, But I've been Lucky! I don't Lie or Exaggerate, but sometimes I remember BIG!
