Trying to find the lure they were using on Lake Cherokee this weekend

Finesse bait

Damiki rig. Most were using a VMC moon eye jig with a small swimbait or fluke.

Ok......so I had no idea what this "Damiki rig" was so I had to go watch some You Tube stuff on it.

What I learned is this.......the "Damiki Rig" is really just something Sandbass and Hybrid fisherman have been doing for years. In fact I have one on my rod right now that I used to catch Bass on last week. Crappie fisherman use a slightly smaller "Damiki Rig" just like that called a "jig".

Little did I know I had been "Damiki Riggin" when "Damiki Riggin" wasn't cool.

Got a feeling its a good time to own stock in "Damiki". We all know Bass fisherman like to spend dat money!!

It's a 90 degree jig head with a little soft plastic trailer. Striper guys call it dead sticking.

Anyone know what they were attaching to the VMC half moon jigs? There are a couple of lakes around here that I'd like to try that technique on.

I was watching it live Friday when Zona did taste the bait. It was like a small zoom fluke I forgot the actual one, the zoom one should work.

Pretty cool and I like the big eyes theory a few of them hold to as it regards attracting fish.

It is essentially one more in an ever-growing collection of finesse techniques for tough days on the water.

It's almost as if two trends are broadening out the range in bass fishing: the recent moves to really big swim baits on the large side, then the move to light spinning tackle and finesse on the other end of things.

"Video Game Fishing"

I've fished Cherokee, numerous times....this time of year, these smallmouth are super hard to catch....especially with all the pressure. I was at Thursday's weigh-in.....brutal wind and cold....the way technology has advanced...press a button and your trolling motor is fixed in one position....without this....it would've been next to impossible to catch these deep smallies....I'm the coach for a local high school bass club....they got to help out behind the stage on Championship Sunday.....the pros were awesome....after 4 hard days of tournament fishing....they still took the time to talk and sign autographs for the guys.....they're REAL PROS.....

This year they have invented the Damiki rig and the neko rig. We have been fishing both for years under different names. This evidently is the new way to market.

Exactly!! I have been using a "neko rig" since the mid 1990's when I was in high school.
