You will have to order Hydraulic steering kit but the brand and year of motor with 13 ft. hoses. http://www.lowcostboatingstore.com/

Does it have to be a special one or will any of them work? Can I use the HK4300 kit?

The rear ram is different for Merc, Evinrude, Yamaha and others

you don't 'convert'--- you 'replace'... only thing you keep from old system is the hub and steering wheel...

Why couldn't you use a bay star instead of the sea star? It's nearly 1/2 price and for up to 150hp engines

Scott through experience we have found the Bay Star will not work well with 150hp. Can create a dangerous situation. Plus many of these 150hp motors are actually producing 165+hp. I have installed many Bay Star systems but I won`t put it on anything over a 130hp.

Hydraulic fluid.
Inspect the bolt that attaches the motor to the steering. If it shows any wear, replace. This is a special hardened bolt available from your dealer or ARP. Do not skimp here.
Find a dealer with a power bleeder to do the initial bleeding of the system.

just converted my champion boat/200 mercury efi from dual rack system to a seastar PRO system. I highly recommend brian at Jamestown distributers for the parts!! He assisted me in purchasing all the parts separate since I wanted a pro tilt helm and the seastar pro cylinder and 14' hoses. Couldn't find all that in the kit nor could I find it for less than 1675. Needless to say for less tha $1500 to my door I had all I needed. Fluid, fill kit and all. Installed it with my girlfriend(she's a bad %^$&%) and bled the system all ourselves. Is it easy? NO but what is these days?!!! It was my first system to change out so we were slower but now we understand how it all works. Still not too bad but not too easy either.
