Went to the lake this morn and got to my first spot no problem. After about an hour I start to head to a different spot. As I get on plane I start to trim the motor up and the boat dies. Messed with it the rest of the day and for some reason if I am giving it gas and try to hit the trim, the motor dies. If it's idling, you can change the trim no problem. I'm running a legend with a 250 optimax...and a hotfoot. Any ideas what could be causing this?

got to be a short in the trim switch wiring somewhere. sounds like in the throttle control handle. like when you push it forward, you're getting the wires in a bind and they're going to ground somewhere.

Sounds like a electrical problem. I would suspect something causing the battery voltage to drop Insufficient battery (too low of a rating) Corroded or loose battery connections High amperage draw on the low or high pressure fuel pumps. Also Due to the amperage draw through the positive terminal of the main power or power trim relay, the terminal may overheat causing the relay to become inoperative and will shut off the PCM.......OPTI

I did just put a new battery in this week. Maybe I didn't get a good connection. I did clean up everything though

The battery we installed was a exide 31MDCST. Looks like it's 725 cold cranking and 900 cranking. Think that's the problem??? I've never paid much attention to the cca before. Shame on me, I guess!

I have to agree with smooth.

Very possible I have seen them do some crazy stuff with a too small of a battery this battery you are using now is a dual purpose I would stay with a staring purpose battery in the 24 series and when you install cables back on battery install engine cables on first then accessory wires And I also like to use self locking nuts so cables will not come loose instead of wingnuts....OPTI

Only reason I am guessing the same as smooth is because it doesn`t die at idle when you hit the trim. Best reason for thinking battery is, he just worked on it. Your right about weird things can happen. I had 115 Optimax that turned over pretty good but wouldn`start because of low battery.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I need a better battery either way so I will start there and see what happens
