 Approximate weight for gator gar

Buddy came down to Falcon Lake and snagged a gator gar on the back with a crankbait. Fought it for probably 25 minutes before the knot finally let go.
It was 7 maybe 8 feet and as big around as a basketball. Just wondering if anyone had a decent guess as to it's weight since he was using braid with 12 pound fluorocarbon leader.

a 7 foot gar is 170 pounds plus.
