I sold an old truck and have some cash to get a new trolling motor. $3,000 for an Ulterra was a bit much for my small boat so I got a Motor Guide Xi5 105 lb w/ sonar gps. My 17 foot boat has a 105! I bought it from David at Shut Up and Fish. I like David, he gave me a great price. He installed my sonar a couple of months ago and did a really good job, with great service, so I got my new trolling motor from him. He is a hard working local guy with his own business. I like to give my business to a man who lives and works in my area.

I have lived with a sorry trolling motor long enough!

Congratulations John!! I like new toys. We need to get on Lewsiville together. I also agree about your comments for David at Shut and Fish. He is a great guy and does a lot of good things for the local fishermen and women, he is a RHSA supporter also.

I hear ya. It may take a while to recover from the long LL drought lol.

We need to hook up for that trip one day with Gene and buddies for Tennessee.

You are right Todd. Norris and Cherokee lakes in TN are the most fantastic striper fishing lakes in the country. The pic is Mr. Ezell Cox the best guide on the best lake.

We need to make a trip to Tennessee to fish. Driving time is not that far.

If driving is the plan, does that mean you are going to bring your boat?

If you did bring your boat we would have a couple options. Fish one day with Ezell then follow his advice to get bait and fishing spots, then spend a couple days in your boat fishing. The advantage to this is we will catch fish at least one day😀. Or Ezell will tell me where the bait and fish are and we can go on our own. We will also need a bait tank and cast net. I have a 40 gal super bait tank 2. I can also throw a cast net. Live bait is the way to go up there. I have caught fish with lures, but live bait is the best. Ezell also has trophy waters to fish in the tailrace of noris dam, or Melton Hill lake. The trophy fishing may only produce a couple fish over several days but they will be massive. I prefer the numbers of fish in the 10 to 20 pound range.

Here are a few of the larger fish.

How long of a drive is it and what is the best time of the year to go?
