I've thought from the beginning there could be major obstacles with not only taking a publicly traded company private, but also because Cabela's has stores in Canada. Stock holders, which include Mutual Funds and hedge funds, frown on losing their piggy bank unless they are the big winners. I'm sure they were hoping the Japanese and/or Chinese would start a bidding war.

I'm sure Mr. Morriss did his due diligence before making an offer. I doubt he would waste time and effort if he felt it wold not be approved. He didn't get rich by not knowing what he is doing.

People said the same thing when Halliburton tried to buy Baker Hughes. And it got shut down coasting Halliburton billions

No doubt Mr. Morris is a rich man, very successful and did his due diligence but when the FTC gets involved after this length of time there are some issues. Nothing for me to be concerned about I just commented on the OP's post about it which I'm sure that was his reason for posting it, to get feedback. I've done my part to enrich Mr. Morris as have most on here and wish him the best.

I hope it doesn't get done. Cabela's is a notch above BPS in my opinion. Morris would just drag a good outfit down to his level. Example: store-branded clothing quality is lower at BPS the vast majority of times otherwise similar items are compared.
This all happened intentionally as a result of a quick-profit financial whore stirring the pot in hopes of more fast profit with zero long-term concern for the company.

I've never been to a Cabela's store, only because there's not one close to me, so I can't do a comparison. I have and do spend quite a bit of time at BPS and have formed a relationship with several of their employees. They do stand behind their products and usually have what I'm looking for. I have heard some unflattering comments about BPS from a couple of their employees about a lack of loyalty but you never know what the issues are and it's really not my business. Doubt that merger will affect me in the least one way or another. I know some key management people have left Ranger, namely Randy Hopper along with 2 other front office exec's. and the quality of the Platinum trio ( Ranger, Triton and Stratos ) has suffered. Maybe the merger will solve some of those issues, maybe not. Which ever way it goes will not effect my handicap in golf or when or where I go fishing. So I'm just like a little duck, if it don't rain I'll walk. Cheers !

I would hate to see the sale go thru. We shop both stores but the quality, selection and price of their clothing is much better than BP. I hate it when a company, any company will buy up a competitor instead of trying to make their own company better. In the end the customer loses the most.

I sure hope Johnny doesn't come on the forum. His feelings would be hurt.

He might buy TFF too since he's in the buying mood. Wouldn't that be something.

To me it seemed like it would create a monopoly by BPS. I was hoping it wouldn'tt happen. I buy too much of my hunting clothing there, that I like much better. Plus my Guideweat Gore-Tex rainwear. I am tall and theirs fits tall people. Tall at BPS does not.
