Why are BPS prices so ridiculously high?
Especially their plastics and hard baits!!
Example: I notice last night
A pack of zoom lizards BPS $4.77 Academy $3.69 Walmart $2.74
Seaguar Floro ivizi BPS $29.99 Academy 19.99

Moritz Chevrolet - 9101 Camp Bowie W Blvd, Fort Worth, TX - Monte Coon (817) 696-2003

Gotta believe BPS is appealing to the casual angler not the hard core guys like ourselves who know where to shop for selection and price. Its become a destination type store and they're selling an "experience".

I buy very little at BPS anymore.

That's just the way it is...the prices may or may not go down with the acquisition of Cabelas...but I doubt it... It is like Bass Pro is High Price, Cabelas is Mid Price, then Academy/Walmart is Low Price.

It is still fun to go there! I don't even have to buy anything to enjoy myself in BPS or Cabelas.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

It's for uneducated buyers. We hardcore online shoppers are the vast minority.

I bet it's to sell their store brand more. If I'm going there it's just for fun or something is on sale.

You hit the nail on the head. Pyramid is a tourist attraction, nobody buys $hit when they go there and the other BPS have had to bail them out. Pretty soon Johnny Morris will own the fishing industry and if he's not careful he may turn out to be like another Irwin Jacobs, also known as the "liquidator".

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

BPS needs the money to pay for Cabelas so they pass the cost on to shoppers.

Who else has stores centrally located that stock the inventory of BPS? The Academy store's fishing departments that I have visited are a joke. Customer service, forget about it. They won't leave the counter to help you and they rarely know if they even carry what you are looking for. I remember needing to go to BPS and Academy in the same day so I thought, let's be cheap and I'll buy the stuff that Academy sells there and save some money. When I got there they were more expensive than BPS. Walmart is good for prices but they are really limited but it is nice that you can shop 24hrs a day. I could order online but sometimes, I just don't know I need something until I need it and don't want to wait days to get it in.

I don't shop there often but I do use them because they will have much of what I might need on a short notice so I'll pay a little more at those times. I'll go sometimes just to browse and see what is new. You don't find new things at Academy or Walmart, just a bunch of empty pegs.

Prices are high so they can put things on SALE!!! They use the 25% off to drive sales.
