Is the big stump that looks like a slee stack head from land of the lost still at the mouth. didn't see tip last time I ran it. You should be able to see it soon as the lake keeps dropping. This is from about two feet lower than it is now. It looks about prime to take out your lower unit.  I remember when the water got real low there was actually an entire small horsepower outboard right there by that stump.

You need to either follow someone in a boat bigger than yours or go slow, graph and mark the stumps.
Not everyone who goes up there knows what they are doing...there are many stumps around the golf course then many more after the power lines with some having rebar in the tops. The path is not a straight run. If you're not puckering vinyl on the way in you don't understand what you are running through.
Stress less, relax more. Go fishing.

I wouldn't recommend idling at the mouth of the river With the lake only being a foot low idling through the mouth shouldn't be a problem. The real danger comes from the heroes that feel the need to do 60mph around a blind curve. I run out of there on plane and I'm not being a hero. I have been going up there a long time and would much rather cut through the mouth and the north end on plane than idling. Have you ever thought of it the other way around? Maybe all the new people that don't' know how to run it idling in through the mouth are the real danger? I can't get on plane once I idle out because the water is too shallow. You have to get on plane in the river where the water is deep enough to do it. I know the north end of Ray Hubbard like the back of my hand and run in and out of the river as well. What I don't do is take off north of the split and try to show everyone I know where every stump is while doing 60mph and rounding blind curves. Had a guy in a Skeeter come flying around the 90 degree bend past the split a few years ago and damn near ran me and my dad over while we were trying to get out of the way. He ended up running his boat up on the bank trying to avoid double murder charges. After I cussed him up one side and down the other we continued on our way without offering to help him get his boat back in the water as well. As far as the guys idling in being the real danger just ask yourself who is going to be at fault when you run one of them over. Is it going to be the guy that was idling or the guy that was flying around a blind curve??? I think Joey was referring to popping up on pad when coming out right there at the mouth. running the blind corners up in the river on pad is a whole different story than getting on pad coming out. you can run out of that straight without endangering lives, property, and without going 60mph.

Thanks Ted, that's exactly what I'm saying  Been stuck up there before and had to have Tilton save my butt! I will always jump on plane to get out of there because it you don't have momentum, that's a long way to push the boat! LOL Awesome pic Brandon.

Can't help but feel this is aimed at me. Not cool John. I'm pretty sure you set the record for lower unit donations. I've seen people follow jet boats up...

That's the most dangerous area around the powerlines. Look at all those stumps. I've seen so many people fly through there and it's really a roll of the dice. Just because you made it through a dozen times without hitting anything doesn't mean it's clear. Your next attempt could be the one that takes your lower unit.

For all that think there isn't that much to hit, just look at the power line cut, not much room for a mistake when the lake is 18 inches below full pool and lower. I spend a lot of time up there fishing and working as well and yes there is a lot more to what is under the water than most realize. I cannot find my pic of the boat that had a 10" stump through the middle of it, just north of the golf course cut from back in 2012. If in doubt trim her high and let her fly
