I have a new 1 1/2 yr old Skeeter that I will not let float free at Squaw Creek like others want me to do. I fish by myself a lot, and that slew where everyone launches is full of shore line rocks. I do everything right, and launch quickly, but I have to drive over to the courtesy dock, and tie up before I move my truck. That's just the way it is.
Would you believe, I've had guys holler at me to "get everything ready before I launch" when I already did that. I'm glad that there are usually lake patrol guys there to keep the peace because that one incident ended in a shouting match. I'm nearly 70, and I don't see any older guys doing that. It's usually young turks that have entered a $50.00 tournament so they have a chance to win a box of Cracker Jacks.
Courtesy gentlemen, courtesy.
Our old governor came up with the slogan of,"Drive Friendly" Well, it still applies, especially at the lake.
Good Luck

Goodtimes!!

One question, do people at Squaw Creek ever actually say something at the ramp, to the people that do not have a clue??

Some things you can't control so best to just let it go.

Its true, there's an idiot on every corner. It's like there's a special breeding program going on for them and the only thing larger in number to stupidity in the general population is its lack of moral character . But, the truth is if you tell a dumb chit they're a dumb chit all you get is a mad dumb chit.

I cant say I've never done anything stupid at the boat ramp or been lacking in experience. I'll bet not many people can.

I think you partially misunderstood my comment--It was only intended to say that not everyone is the same and can sit back and watch someone make a fool out of themselves at the ramp or tie up the ramp for 5-10-15 minutes which some do. Some get mad, and make comments without asking that person if they need help. I personally approach it a little different. YES, I do get mad and want to say things I shouldn't but over the years I have learned to not just ask if they need help. I walk up and say hey "Have you tried this way or that". Or, if the person is alone I ask if they mind if I park their truck for them so we can move the flow along a little faster instead of asking if they simply need help. Many myself included will usually decline. I suggest to offer help or advice and give it in a Non-Passive way. Usually they are more inclined to agree. Now, I say this as it pertains to "fisherman!" Pleasure boaters are a totally different bred. I fished Fayette Co. last month on the busiest day I have seen there ever. When I pulled up the the ramp, it was obvious there was a kayak tourney going on. It's a double ramp and had a Kayak beached on every inch of it while they had their meeting. A buddy was in front of me and had to ask them to move so he could launch. Tell me that every one of those guys did not see a line of boats sitting there waiting on them. This isn't the first time I've witnessed these guys pull stunts like that. At another lake I was on weekly I asked the managers to come up with a plan on how to better use the ramps during big kayak tourneys, and they did just that. They actually posted a person at the ramp which guided everyone on and off the ramp to move the flow better.
