Caught a few upriver a few weeks back, males only, nice size, but it was hard fishing. I'll be upriver this weekend and will post after I get back.

Was up at the rapids today with 4 people fishing from a boat with minnows. Caught 20 ish keeper whites, all males, with the exception of one. getting better, but it's still not at it's peak with the lack of females I would say.

I'd like to try Rebecca Creek ramp launch and fish the Guad for some whites. Im only familiar with the Nueces. Never been to the guard. Any info y'all can pass over to me on where to go or what direction to head to? I assume rattletraps, roadrunners and speck jigs would work here as well?

Launch at Rebecca creek and head up river ( 2 miles or so) until you get to the first set of rapids ( these are not so much rapids right now as they are swift water ). If you can pull through that with your boat and go another 2-300 yards there is another real set of rapids. We did real well between that point, drifting back down towards the set of rapids that we pulled through. We fished live minnows on the bottom with a real slow retrieve. As for artificials, i've always done well with little Fin-s-shad, white belly, grey back, for whites up there. Be prepared, you never know what you will hook up there. Watched a girl at the rapids Saturday boat a 20 ish inch Striper on a minnow and untralight tackle. I never knew they went up that far. But another guy I talked to up there the same day said he had caught one at the same location the previous day.Good luck.

I'd give it a few days. Was up there yesterday and the river was pretty cloudy and high from the rains. The rapids ain't rapids right now. They're swirling torrents of liquid hurt. In a few days the water will be back down and the fish will concentrate back up. Be careful if you go.
