Was on the lake yesterday trying to fish some structure with about a 10-15 mph wind. The Xi5 simply would not hold where I marked the anchor lock. I tried several times and every time it would drift back to just about the exact same location about 6-8 feet back from where I anchor locked. I tried going just past the position, tried making sure the boat stopped moving forward or backward before hitting the anchor lock, it just wouldn't hold.

Is there something I have missed when setting this up? I did the calibration with the motor facing forward. And the manual says the GPS calibration is factory set and should not have to be re-done?

Mine acted up one time like that and I just pulled it back out of the water and unplugged it and shut off my HDS2 and powered on my HDS2 and plugged it back up and deployed it again and it worked the rest of the day no problem. Doesnt mean it will work for you but it did for me good luck.

Mine hasn't worked right since I got it and won't even anchor anymore. I've always had to walk it back to the pile. It's usually 2 clicks forward one left but changes every so often.

It is worth getting it looked at. They are a great motor.

Mine has never failed to work except under bridge for a second and then it worked again. I'd do what that man in the video David posted or call Motorguide if mine didn't work.

How long are you going to wait. This has been our top selling motor for the crappie angler the last two years hands down. The jury/verdict has been out. Best anchor motor on the market.

I'm not going to feel sorry for you. It hasn't slowed you down any.

Now that I think about it, maybe I will go two clicks back, and one to the right. That must be where the fish are.

I was having the same issue with my motor. It would not anchor and would sometimes just wind up on itself for no reason. It was a month out of warranty and Motorguide still covered it and replaced the GPS module and the main board.

That one video said there was an update for the I-pilot for the ulterra and older models. Is this correct that they have put out an update to match the Ultrex?

Ugh this is making my decision between the two brands harder, although it sounds like MG is doing well with customer service.

If I get an xi5, I gotta dish out another almost $300 for the liftsaver, but I think there is a $100 factory rebate from MG right now.

Ultrex doesn't need extra bracketing but it costs literally 1/3 of what I paid for my boat.
