How has the bass fishing been at these two lakes over the last few years?

One of my friends, Capt.Grumpy has been visiting Spence on a regular basis. The reports are super good. Lots of 4 to 6 lb. fish being caught. Hope to get in on some of this just as soon as all the Mex. trips are over. Spinner baits and pitching baits with tails are doing well in the heavy timber.

Not sure about Oak but Spence is fishing like a stock tank right now. It'll make anybody look like a pro. Go throw whatever you want and you can catch fish. Just be aware, as the word continues to get out how easy the fishing is, the lake will become swamped with folks. Do yourself a favor, go to Ivie.

We were on Oak Creek Saturday. It was pretty tough for us. Caught a couple of fish for the day.

Wish I would have kept my mouth shut realmad For about a year I had Spence pretty much to myself, just glad I live on a section of the lake that has dams at both ends laugh

Fished The Main lake at Spence this weekend and it was great fishing, except for the guys who can't operate a bass boat or are just flat out inconsiderate.

Water hit 52.5 at around 2:00 pm on Sunday and most of the Ladies are Fat and full of eggs and they are exactly where you would expect them to be as they start moving up. The girls are stacking up right now in a couple of areas. Where I caught one over 5 I usually caught 3 or more.

Caught bigger fish at Ivie, but caught solid fish and numbers at Spence. 8 1/2 is my biggest out of Spence, and last weekend I heard someone busted a 9.34.

Just make sure you get a park pass (heard CRMWD is going to start towing violators soon) and please stop in at the shop at Wildcat when you get a chance, they need all the business they can get.

Yep, took a buddy there Sunday. Figured wouldn't be too pressured since it was super bowl Sunday. I was wrong. Got buzzed by boats on plane pretty close at least 7 times. Caught some nice fish though.

I have been fishing it since around April or so. I quit going over there though. Yea it is fun and all but there was no real challenge to it. Plus, it is tournament season. Enjoy it while it lasts, come springtime it will be looking like the McDonalds on Fork and every fish in the lake will have 4 hook holes in their mouths. And I don't think you hurt it by telling anybody, it was all the FB pro's around here roflmao

That's the norm nowadays with social media. A lot guys can't help themselves when they catch some fish. These are some of the same guys that will also complain about the bite all of a sudden nonexistent or too much pressure in their areas. Helping out is one thing but this constant state of needing recognition is getting out of hand

What I don't get is why, when you aren't fishing a tournament, do you put all 5 in the livewell and carry them around all day just to take a picture holding all of them. That one blows my mind.

With the lake being 13.5% full it's more like a river channel than a lake. It won't take much pressure at that level to wipe it out. I think the internet has hurt more lakes than any golden algae ever did. More like a lake to take a kid to get them interested in fishing. I don't think I would want to fish there if ten boats were on the water

I wasn't really upset with telling folks it was good fishing, little bit of sarcasm previously. I know it didn't hurt the lake and I have been around long enough to know the outcome of posting a fishing report or three on TFF. The local economy up here in Robert Lee needs all the help it can get and every little bit helps. The lake use to help out quite a bit and it would be great if it started again. This is why I give everyone that asks all the info I have on Spence. From an Economy standpoint it helps the area I live in. The more Facebook Pro's the merrier, they don't bug me (unless they're the clowns that can't be considerate in a boat or the clowns that toss their beer cans on the ground at the ramp)...

I fish Spence a lot, of course everyday after work I can walk down and fish or throw the boat in, so that makes a difference. Challenging or not it is pretty convenient, and it does wonders for the kid. I can take her in the boat so she can catch a few and be excited about catching a few solid bass. Thanks to Spence I have an 8 year old daughter that enjoys the sport of fishing, especially Bass Fishing.

Like you said, it is now tourney season so I too am generally off at other lakes pre-fishing most weekends.

It is certainly a great place to get a kid interested. As far as the economy, hopefully the water is helping. Especially out there at the store. I was at Ivie yesterday and there may have been 6 boats on the entire lake. My buddy went to Spence Saturday and said there was probably 15 or so. Way to many people on that little pond.

Well I fished Spence today. Only caught two but one was 5 pounds and the other was 4. Nice fat girls. After reading all the comments about it fishing like a stock tank I thought I would do better numbers. But I found it a little hard to fish. So much salt cedar it was hard to really maneuver around. Spent about half of my time just riding and idling around the lake.

Water temp was anywhere from 57 to 61. When I got there I was the only boat at the ramp. However I ran into 3 other boats who must have launched somewhere else. Fished from 8 until 3. When I left there were 9 trailers at the ramp.

I've fished Oak Creek the past 3 saturdays. February 18th & 19th was a club tourney from Odessa, 19lbs won it on Sunday. I was just out there fun fishing with my family. Saturday the 25th was Jim Ned bass club first tourney and 10.69 won it with 3 fish. Lots of little fish being caught but nice to see better quality than last year's efforts. Fished it the first Saturday of March with my 5 year old son and we caught 6 with at least 2 being keepers and missed just as many. Catching all mine out there now on a zoom finesse worm
