Go to a store like Bass Pro and play with them, you will find one that clicks better with your way of thinking. If you still can't decide then do this....

I have Lowrance now but wish it was Birds. Have had both and Bird technology is 2 to 5 years ahead of Lowrance and especially if you are integrating with your trolling motor.
Would love me some auto deploy and stow on my TM that I control from the console.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

For me, it is humminbird. No extras to buy, easy to use and perform as well as if not better than any brand with the new units. Really ISA Chevy or Ford question though

I didn't spend a lot of time looking at Lowrance but on the surface, the HBs appear to be a bit more user friendly.

Navigation is better on the lowrance in my opinion.sonar is comparable.I have had both and problems with both. HB was real fast on getting the unit back to me but did not fix the problem on the third time I switched to lowrance and had a problem and sent it in for repairs and lowrance fixed it the first time

Bird. I have both, and prefer the bird.

Lowrance, Chevy, Skeeter, Shimano. Dad had birds and I have Lowrance. After spending a few days in my boat now he has Lowrance also. He was never able to tune his birds in where you can watch a 1/16 ounce crappie jig and feed it to a fish on the graph. I'm sure birds have gotten better but I have never seen one that I thought was better than Lowrance. And I've never had to call customer service in 15 years of using them.

I have HB so I know a little about the HB. I've heard it myself in BPS where someone who has no idea what he is looking at is asking questions to the staff and heard their answers. I have yet to hear anyone working there that knows what they are talking about so I wouldn't put much faith in what they say. Those guys aren't experts by any stretch of the imagination. Pretty much like going to HomeDepot these days. They barely know if they carry a product let alone how it works.

I only have a Lowrance X-135 at this time and will put it on the bow & trolling motor. Finally want a nice unit with down scan and sonar. Bass Pro is having a deal where you buy a unit and they will install free so, want to jump on this. Had HB on old bass boat and was pleased but most of my fishing partners have Lowrance. I want to make sure as best I can that I make a purchase I don't regret.
